Mac Miller returns to NoVA for March 31 concert

After recently starting off the Macadelic tour, 20-year-old Mac Miller took over the Patriot Center on March 31. Although the show wasn’t sold-out, there were plenty of fans on the main floor and even more seated in the stands. The majority of attendants were teenagers, showing quite a bit of skin; the crowd also included the obviously-young “fans”, who most likely bought tickets because they’ve heard the song “Donald Trump”. Overall, the excitement level was high- like half of the crowd.

The Come Up kicked off the show followed by The Cool Kids. These two opening acts weren’t memorable, but I give some of the artists kudos for their good looks and stage presence.

As the lights dimmed, fans screamed louder and louder, anticipating Miller’s entrance. The crowd went crazy once Miller, DJ Clockwork and hype man TreeJay took the stage. Miller performed a variety of songs ranging from his CD “Blue Slide Park” to mixtape “K.I.D.S.”

Some songs lacked the “party factor,” their beats too slow for dancing, however Miller made up for it with many other hits such as “Frick Park Market”, “Knock, Knock”, and, of course, “Donald Trump.”

The concert in its entirety was definitely a success; he’s an amazing performer who knows how to create good vibes within a concert environment. No doubt Mac Miller has more up his sleeves in the future.
