2010 Powderpuff Game Recap

The annual Powderpuff game took place this past Wednesday. The Oakton junior and senior girls went head to head. After weeks of practice, both teams were full of anticipation and ready to hit the field.

Despite not having as many supporters, the junior class came out strong with a dominating running game. However, even though they had success on the ground, their first drive was unsuccessful.

The seniors started their first drive with a pass based offense. After missing a chance to score by dropping a pass that was sure to give them six points, the quarterback appeared to get a little too comfortable, throwing an interception to end their drive.

The rest of the game appeared to be mirroring the previous drives, until the seniors scored first with one minute and five seconds left in the half.

After a very humorous and entertaining performance by the male cheerleaders, the two teams made a few changes to their line-up and strategy and came back onto the field for round two.

With penalties hurting both teams it was very difficult to tell which team was playing better than the other.

Toward the end of the game the juniors made a marvelous stretch toward the end zone. Everyone was held in suspense when they thought that the juniors had scored with mere seconds left, however, the officials viewed the play as out of bounds. Time wound down, ending the game. The final score: Seniors 7, Juniors 0.
