Morning Announcements: February 19th

The Hanes for Haiti Drive has been extended until March fifth. Please bring your donations of cotton items to your English classroom. Thanks for your support of a good cause!

The WAT Balloon Shop will be delivering Valentine’s Day items today during 7th period.

If anyone is interested in being a part of Cougar News next year, there will be a pizza and ice cream social in room 196 next Tuesday, February 23rd, after school.

Collaboration Wednesday will be cancelled on the 24th.

There will be a meeting for Future Medical Leaders of America on February 22nd, at 2:15 in room 120. Please be on time.

The Superintendent of Fairfax County has recommended three options for making up the snow days, which students can comment on by becoming a fan of Fairfax County on Facebook. The first option is to add thirty minutes to the end of school days from March 8th till the end of the year. The second option is to add 45 minutes to the end of school days, and the last option is to add three days to the end of the year. Get on Facebook and make your voice heard!!

The Performing Arts “Evening of One Acts and Dinner Theatre” has been moved to Thursday, March 11th. Join them for an evening of food and entertainment. Events start at 6:00 in the Auditorium lobby and tickets are $10.

The Young Libertarian Club will meet on Monday, February 22, immediately after school in room 251. President Joseph Choi is looking forward to discussing global warming and other issues.

Attention all students who park in the Cage parking lot next to the tennis courts. Spring teams will be using the cage starting on Monday. Please move your cars by 2:30. You will risk having your car hit by baseballs and lacrosse balls if you don’t move it. This is through at least the end of March.

The Oakton Writing Center provides one-on-one tutoring with trained peer tutors for writing assignments for ANY class. It will be open every Wednesday after school, starting this coming Wednesday, February 24 in the Career Center from 2:15 to 3:30. Sign up outside the Career Center for your 20 minute appointment. Don’t forget to bring your coversheet, the rubric, and your writing.
